Clinical Trials

Prognosis in melanoma has improved some over the past 2-3 decades, mainly because of earlier detection of melanoma which leads to a better outcome with surgery. Clnical research in melanoma is ongoing to try to improve on the treatments and detection methods we have to ultimately improve the chance of cure.

Dr. Peter Brett, medical oncologist and the North Bay Melanoma Program Director, along with the Research Department at Redwood Regional Medical Group, have worked to bring several promsing national clinical trials to the North Bay Area. Dr. Brett and Dr. David Feinberg, MRI specialty radiologist, have jointly designed a clinical trial assessing the comparative accuracy of high resolution MRI scans of lymph nodes to results found on clinical exam or by biopsy.

These clinical trials may be available to you through the North Bay Melanoma Program should you be interested.
